Wayeb’ & Mayan Solar New Year talk with Cassidy Rast
In a Mayan Solar Year there are 18 months of 20 days which total 360 days. There is a 19th month of 5 days called Wayeb’. The Maya had rituals they practiced during this time which they called the “nameless days” or “time out of time”. It is a good time to give thanks for the blessings of the previous year and to reflect on the energy of the new Solar cycle which begins on the following day, the Mayan New Year. This is on February 23rd and has the New Year bearer of N’oj.
We will be holding Mayan Fire Ceremonies throughout Wayeb’ and on the New Year. The “headquarters” are at Tz’an K’ujil in San Marcos L.L. and sunrise ceremonies and sunset invocations will take place there each day. We will also be traveling to different sites around Lake Atitlán to hold midday ceremonies throughout Wayeb’.
There is no charge for any of these activities. Donations would be appreciated to help
cover the costs of the materials. If you wish to make donations before the event see Chus or Luisa at the Unicornio, San Marcos or contact holisticcentre@yahoo.com
